On Wednesday, October 19, 2011, United Way of Tucson & Southern Arizona invited Lisa Murphy, the Ooey Gooey Lady® to present two hours of “Sensory Play for Every Day!” to Early Child Care Professionals (ECCP) in South Pima at the Mulcahy YMCA located in Nogales Hwy.
In addition to one of Lisa’s signature high-energy workshop, this one-of-a-kind workshop supplied six tables of hands-on art, science and sensory play activity ideas as well as the “wolf words” that support their use in your classroom! ECCP were invited to play with the experiences at the end of the demonstration. Lisa also discussed what it really means to be a hands-on, play-based child-centered program.
Many ECCP gave two thumbs up to Lisa for her outstanding performance. Here are just a couple of pictures of the fun from that night. This session was the first of two with Lisa Murphy.
On December 13, 2011, United Way of Tucson & Southern Arizona invited Maggie McKiernan from Early Childhood Development Group to talk about the benefits of “Building Self-Esteem through Music, Movement and Vocabulary Games”. Early Child Care Professionals danced, played instruments and even sang songs. Everyone had a great time learning new skills in a fun an interactive way. ECCP also received information from Shanna Kukla about applying for scholarships at Pima Community College. On February 1, 2012, United Way of Tucson & Southern Arizona invited Lisa Murphy, the Ooey Gooey Lady® back to present two hours of “Oh Those Little Ones!” to Early Child Care Professionals (ECCP) in South Pima at the Mulcahy YMCA located in Nogales Hwy.
On February 18, 2012, United Way of Tucson & Southern Arizona in collaboration with FTF South Pima Regional Partnership Council, Child & Family Resources, Project M.O.R.E sponsored the “Annual South Pima Rural Providers Conference” at the JW Marriott Starr Pass Resort. Keynote presentation was given by educator/composer/performing artist and author Enrique “Hank” C. Feldman, M.M., M.S. who has just released his book, “Living Like a Child.” South Pima providers earned 4.5 hrs of professional development.
